A GREATER PURPOSE FOR MARRIAGE

Do you know that there’s a greater purpose for your being married? And that purpose isn’t to bear children, live in fancy houses, take fancy pictures, buy fancy cars or travel to fancy places. I see a lot of you getting carried away, and the time is short! The Messiah, Yahusha is coming pretty soon! A lot of you get a big fancy wedding, after that, you start having kids and get lost in the process of raising them and trying to have a stable income, just so that your family can be comfortable. Don’t get me wrong, these things are also nice but that’s not our Heavenly Father’s will for your life as a married woman or man. These things are secondary to His will.
First, note that a woman was made to be a man’s “help meet.” In Hebrew, the two words that “help meet” are derived from are the words “ezer” and “k’enegdo.” Ezer which is commonly translated as “help” is really a rich word with a much deeper meaning. According to biblical scholar David Freedman, the Hebrew word translated into English as “help” is ezer. This word is a combination of two roots, one meaning “to rescue,” “to save,” and the other meaning “to be strong.” Just as the roots merged into one word, so did their meanings.
The other part of the term “help meet” which is commonly translated as “meet for” or “fit for” is the word “k’enegdo.” Diana Webb explained that, “k’enegdo” could also mean “in front of” or “opposite.” It means being “exactly corresponding to,” like when you look at yourself in a mirror. Eve was not designed to be exactly like Adam. She was designed to be his mirror opposite, possessing the other half of the qualities, responsibilities, and attributes which he lacked.
Just like Adam and Eve’s sexual organs were physically mirror opposites, (one being internal and the other external) so were their their divine stewardship designed to be opposite but fit together perfectly to create life. Eve was Adam’s complete spiritual equal, endowed with an essential saving power that was opposite from his.
This means that as a woman, you shouldn’t even think of marrying a man without vision or knowledge of Yahuah’s purpose for his life. Woman, have you asked yourself why you’re so attracted to that man? Could be for all the wrong reasons, you know? A man has to discover that purpose before ever finding a wife, and the wife is to help him achieve the purpose. Not to help him explore all the sex positions in the world, or help him get fat, or help him get a male child, or help him get rich quick. NO! Joshua 1:8, the New International Version says, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”
A man discovers the purpose for his life through Yahuah’s Word, and that’s done by meditating on The Word. When you do The Word, every other thing would fall in place! The King James Version says, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Notice it says, “for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Which means, success and prosperity come from walking in righteousness and in the will of Elohim.
It may look like a man’s way is prosperous, it may look like he has good success, but do you think that the devil is broke? Naaaaahhhh! If you’re not doing Yahuah’s will, you can’t say that He’s the one blessing you. Man, play your role and woman, play your role as well. You don’t want to get caught living a life of no purpose, meddling with the things of this world. What would be your excuse? I bet you’re going to lose a lot of worldly friends when you’ve discovered Yahuah’s will, but who cares? That’s how to have a successful marriage. Keep your eyes on the prize and run your own race!
